Motorised sheer and blockout curtains in a minimal bedroom at dawn

Motorised Blinds & Shading

Daylight, handled.

Shading is the most-used automation in most homes. Done well it manages glare, heat and privacy without anyone ever thinking about a remote.

The idea

Moving with the sun, not against it.

Blinds and curtains follow sunrise, sunset and orientation, adjusted for the rooms you are using. Sheers soften the afternoon; blockouts close for the film or for sleep.

We coordinate motor selection, power and control with your blind supplier and electrician so cabling is in place before linings and cornices go on.

Scenes

Wake, work, watch, sleep.

Shading is part of every scene rather than a system of its own.

  • Wake, curtains open gently rather than all at once.
  • Afternoon, west-facing rooms shade themselves before they overheat.
  • Watch, blockouts close with the lighting and the screen.
  • Goodnight, privacy and darkness handled with the rest of the house.

Coordination

Quiet motors, hidden hardware.

Detailing matters: pelmets, recesses, power positions and motor noise are all decided early.

  • Cabling and power planned before linings are installed.
  • Recess and pelmet details coordinated with the architect and joiner.
  • Quiet motors specified for bedrooms and media rooms.

Comfort

Less heat in, less energy used.

Shading is the first line of climate control in a Sydney summer, and it costs nothing to run.

  • Sun tracking by facade and season.
  • Coordination with air conditioning setpoints and schedules.
  • Manual override at a keypad whenever you want it.
