A modernist Double Bay residence with a distinctly Palm Springs character, where technology was designed to sit quietly behind the architecture. Working directly with the client and alongside Konk Electrical, HTI delivered the home's integrated technology systems, including data and networking, security, audio visual and Control4 home automation, coordinated closely with the electrical and architectural lighting package.

Design approach

How it is resolved.

Lighting that traces the architecture

Architectural lighting and linear LED were carefully coordinated to complement the home's curved forms, material palette and strong indoor to outdoor character.

Rather than competing with the architecture, the lighting traces and accentuates it, adding warmth, depth and a relaxed atmosphere throughout the residence.

One interface for the whole home

Control4 brings the home's key systems together into one simple interface. Lighting, climate, security and entertainment can be managed from dedicated touchscreens or personal devices, whether the homeowners are at home or away.

Behind the scenes, the technology remains discreet; in use, it feels immediate and intuitive.

Working alongside the electrical package

HTI worked directly with the client and alongside Konk Electrical, delivering and coordinating the integrated technology systems and ensuring those systems worked cohesively with the electrical and architectural lighting package.

That coordination is what allows control, cabling and lighting to arrive as one resolved result rather than three separate trades meeting on site.

The result

How the house behaves.

The result is a home where technology reinforces the architecture rather than defining it. Carefully integrated lighting highlights the curves and details that give the residence its Palm Springs-inspired identity.

The automation, network, security and entertainment systems provide a comfortable, modern living experience without visual clutter.
